The law focuses on the couple and the family however that family is constituted.
Under the federal Divorce Act any two persons can marry.
Nowhere under the court forms required in Saskatchewan is anyone asked to identify their gender.
Nontraditional families with children need to recognize that if one or both parents is not biologically related to the child they should consider adoption. A parent by adoption has all the same rights and responsibilities as a parent by biology.
